Nutritional Profile of Camel Milk
Camel milk is rich in essential nutrients that contribute to its health benefits:
- Proteins: Camel milk contains high-quality proteins, including beta-casein and lactoferrin, which are easier to digest compared to cow’s milk proteins.
- Vitamins: It is a good source of vitamins such as Vitamin C, Vitamin B1 (thiamine), Vitamin B2 (riboflavin), and Vitamin B12.
- Minerals: Camel milk is abundant in essential minerals like calcium, magnesium, zinc, and potassium.
- Immunoglobulins: These are natural antibodies that help boost the immune system.
- Low Lactose: Camel milk has a lower lactose content, making it suitable for children with lactose intolerance.
Gluten free, additive free, Keto and Paleo friendly and is Halal.
Our Bedouin camel milk is most likely the most nutritious and ethically produced milk available in South Africa. Our camels are looked after by people who love and care for them. They roam freely in large open spaces and selecting their food from 50+ indigenous Kalahari plant species. Their diet is supplemented with lucerne to increase their milk yield.
The milk is a natural whole milk, nothing added and nothing removed. Our calves are kept 24/7 with their mothers for the first month and thereafter get to spend time with their mothers daily and sometimes a whole weekend. We never use antibiotics and do not treat the camels with any hormones.
Camel milk is closer to human milk than any other ruminant milk and differs from other ruminant milks because it contains low cholesterol and low sugar, but is higher in minerals (sodium, potassium, iron, copper, zinc and magnesium) as well as Vitamin C. It is free from A1 Beta Cassien and beta-lactoglubulin, the two proteins in cow’s milk causing allergic reactions. At the same time, camel milk contains a rich array of immune-boosting proteins such as lactoferrin, immunoglobulins and lysozyme.
Camel milk has been part of the Middle Eastern culture for centuries. Its nutritional and health-supporting properties has elevated it to Superfood status. Our camel milk powder is made from pasteurised milk that has been spray-dried. It is naturally sweet-tasting.
